risk victims of:
- Domestic
violence

Sexual assault
- Stalking
The Supportlink Program
provides three main services to the Ottawa
area:
- An
extensive, personalized safety plan
- A
pre-programmed 911 cell phone for eligible
clients.
- Ongoing
support through contact with the Coordinator
to provide referrals to community resources
and to update the personal safety plan.
Referrals must
come from Victim Crisis Unit, Victim/Witness
Assistance Program, Resource Centres,
Shelters and other services that support
victims.
Eligibility Criteria
for a 911 cell phone:
- Victim
does not own a personal cell phone
- Victim
has made a formal complaint to the police.
- Victim
has a court order or are in the process
of applying for one.
- Victim
is not living with the accused.
- Victim
has reasonable grounds to believe they
are at risk.
- Victim
is willing to cooperate with the police
and report any further occurrences of
violence and/or threats.
- Victim
is willing to have ongoing contact with
the Supportlink Coordinator
Supportlink
is a joint initiative of the Ministry
of the Attorney General- Ontario Victim
Services Secreteriat, Ericsson Canada
and Rogers AT&T Wireless administered
by Victim Assistance Service of Ottawa-Carleton.
The Supportlink
program provides safety planning to any
victim of domestic violence, sexual assualt
or stalking whether they qualify for a
911 phone or not.
