MISSION STATEMENT
VASOC is a non-profit,
charitable community-based organization
working in partnership with police , emergency
and community services to meet the short
- term needs of victims of crime and tragic
circumstances by providing emotional support,
practical assistance, and referrals to
community resources.
VASOC

OBJECTIVES
- To
provide support, information and referral
services to victim of crime or misfortune.
In particular:
- To
lessen the trauma of being victimized;
- To
help the victim cope with the impact
of crime and/or tragic circumstances;
- To
encourage the victim to connect with
appropriate services;
- To
assist police in their response to the
needs of the victim;
- To
provide an opportunity for the community
to become more involved in dealing with
the effects of crime;
- To
refer victims to counseling agencies,
housing, financial resources and police
or legal authorities/services;
- To
act as a resource in assisting victims
requests for additional information
by "exhausting all avenues"
to retrieve specific information on
behalf of the victims;
- To
provide crisis intervention: this is
short term, immediate, psychological
and practical first aid.
